So there has been a lot that has happened since we've returned from the honeymoon. We haven't really settled or "nested" into our home...just starting to get things organized but there is still a lot to do. We spent this past weekend at the beach and next weekend will be spent celebrating with friends at the Brinton/Bicksler wedding in Jacksonville. Hopefully soon we will be able to move my things from the condo to the house and start decorating. Here are a few things that have happened in our lives as "Mr. and Mrs."...
One of our first mornings together Adam and I were in the kitchen and we let the dogs out in the backyard...little did we know this furry friends was lurking on the back fence. The dogs went hysterical. If you didn't hear them yelping and whining, it was a miracle. They wanted to eat him alive...he just casually was hanging around..probably singing "naanaany booboo"...
For many nights after our return from Antigua, we spent evenings unwrapping gifts...wow, it seemed like we had a million to open both from the wedding and those that were shipped to us over the few weeks...We received TONS of things...I loved every minute of it. Adam on the other hand was on "trash duty"...I opened the gifts while he picked up my mess...I have a feeling this will be something he does for the rest of his life as I am good at making messes...and he is good at cleaning up after me. He shouldn't have let me in on that little secret...

The explosion of gifts... The best time was trying to find somewhere to put all of this stuff. This was only a quarter of the gifts. There were several more in the dining room.
This was one of our favorite gifts...Eileen and Jim Ogletree commissioned their [own daughter] to draw a caricature of us...pretty darn accurate...we adore this gift and it is already displayed in the office! Which may I add is the only decorated room in the house. Hmmm...maybe I should post pictures of it for motivation.
We LOVED opening our pots and pans...Adam [being a little OCD] spent a lot of time cleaning each piece before carefully placing them into the cabinet...he's so cute.
I cleaned all of our new Rubbermaid FORTY-EIGHT piece food saver set... Yes, we are dorks because we get excited over new "Tupperware"...as I will always call it.
Did I mention that when we arrived home from our honeymoon that my parents had cleaned the whole house (including the HUGE mess we made in the basement while creating the rehearsal dinner arrangements) and mowed the grass at (at an angle, as well as trimmed the hedges)...AND Adam's parents (officially my in-laws) made a DE-LICIOUS dinner and went grocery shopping for us... so sweet. Probably the best "welcome home" gift ever! Bottom line, once we got home, it didn't stay clean for long... sorry mom...we destroyed it by opening gifts and putting them away. (Hey mom, you interested in making a little extra dough? I'll pay you to come clean again...pweeease!!!)
Okay... so as you know, I am OBSESSED with decorating. I have waited too long to make this house the way I want it (of course the way Adam wants it too) and we are starting with our Master Bedroom. I have absolutely no where to put my undies and tees, so first thing on the list was to get a dresser for me. Adam had purchased some beautiful Restoration Hardware furniture for the room when he first moved in, but only bought one dresser. I had called up to Restoration Outlet about 1 year ago to get on a wait list for the "female" mate to the dresser we had previously purchased...a few weeks before the wedding they called and said they had one in and it was perfect- only $2,000+...ha! Yeah right! So the Fleming's so graciously gave us a beautiful dresser that I decided to refinish and distress. Here are a few before photos...
Memorial Day just happened to fall on the weekend after our return from the honeymoon. It kind of worked perfect to come back to work for a week, then have a long weekend. I really needed to stay home to work on all of our million projects, but it was perfect to get away to the beach. The weather was amazing. Photos below are from this weekend. And yes, the dogs (all 4-in birth order: Luke, Harlee, Butter, and Cooper) get their own lounge chairs and umbrellas when they go to the beach. And until we have real kids, we will blog about our three hairy ones...

We stopped at a gas station in Eufaula and there were gators..you can barely see the one sunbathing on the sand.

Tuesday night, when we got home from work, we got one of the best wedding gifts ever...JENN ORAVET gave us a videographer as our gift and our DVD arrived!!! WHOOHOO...We waited until after dinner to watch it. Just like she and Tony said, "we laughed, we cried, we sang songs". What a special gift to have forever. We will certainly watch this often. Thanks Jenn! We love it!
The next few pictures are of our first home project, as mentioned earlier, the master bedroom. And yes, I'm going to show you the before pictures with out any shame. The bedroom is a fabulous room with a tray ceiling, wrought iron chandelier, good windows, and a door that leads to the upper porch deck. The only problem is it's beige, beige, beige. Not to mention the bedding is all wrong- let's just say it was perfect when we bought it almost 4 years ago, but now it's covered in dog hair (no matter how many times it is washed), it's faded, and there may or may not be some doggie eye-boogers that have been permanently crusted into the fibers of the fabric. I have to use a green blanket every night to keep me from freezing to death (thanks Adam). Just wanted to show you the room in all of it's glory so you can appreciate the beauty that it will transform into once I paint and decorate. After photos will be posted with in the next few weeks. I write this only to give myself a goal to finish...
Butter? Adam was downstairs cooking dinner while I was snapping these shots. Butter hangs in bed while the skillet is being used- she is deathly afraid of the sizzle it makes.
Here is the bathroom...good size with the two sinks, but it needs some color and decorating!
This is the landing at the top of the stairs. The doors lead into the upper deck front porch. I have big plans for the deck- outdoor curtains, furniture, and possibly a swing. This landing area will soon have a chair and lamp to complete the perfect place to curl up and read a book.
Yep- here she is...my dresser completed. I painted her with a beautiful shade of ivory paint and distressed her adding a little detail. Finished her off with spraying the hardware and a coat of poly and she's done. Voila! Once we get some curtains and color on the walls, she will shine like a star.
