Day :: Three

So I totally got behind on my blogging from the past few days. We never had a chance where we were just sitting and chilling out. Below are some pictures from dinner the second night. We look a little more rested than the previous photos.
If Adam and I don't return 10 pounds heavier, it will be a miracle. We have never eaten so much good food in our lives! The pictures below were taken with my old small camera... the photos don't do the dishes justice. They were heavenly! The breakfast menu stays the same, but the lunch and dinner menus change daily. PLUS, they are 4 courses: tasters, soup, main, dessert...you better believe we ate all FOUR for every meal! MMMM!

On Wednesday we headed out around 11:30am to go on a tour of a local farm. We were really excited to do the tour because of Adam's love for produce and food....ok, I really love food too and I was just as excited. We were accompanied by the head chef at Hermitage Bay, Dezi. He told us not too many people do the tour but he loves it when guest participate because the resort is really big on local support. Mr. Christian's farm was truly a unique experience.
This is a picture from Wednesday morning...

This was from when we first pulled up to the farm. Mango trees were everywhere! The neatest part about the whole trip is we pulled fruit directly off the trees and ate it...everything was so good!
View of just 1/3 of the farm.
Ever wonder why cashews are such expensive nuts??? Here's why...below is a cashew nut. They grow on a fruit and inside the top part is just ONE cashew. So you only get one cashew from that whole piece... we tasted the fruit and it is super strong and bitter and it immediately dries your mouth out. It is very juicy and although the juice is clear, it stains your clothes an orange color.
Mr. Christian had a ton of citrus.Below are limes.

Apple.
This fruit, Ackee, is apparently very poisonous before it is cut open... but connected to the "olive" looking part there is a buttery-nutty flavored fruit.
These are wax apples...they were the size of a small plum. They have different levels of sweetness based on how ripe they are.
This is a bread fruit... the trees they grow on are really beautiful. We never ate one...

This is an avocado.
Mr. Christian has the largest private-owned reservoir on Antigua. It was really beautiful.
He had okra, eggplant, squash, pumpkin, watermelon, and many other crops.
This is okra. We ate it right off the plant.... best okra we've ever had!!!
Eggplant.
These are papayas... they grew just like coconuts.
We cannot remember what the name of this citrus fruit is, but it is a favorite on the island. It is much like a grapefruit, but much larger in size.
Mr. Christian... he was so nice and so excited that we were there.
Coconut trees.
Overall we had a fantastic time at the farm. The tour was supposed to only be a hour long but ended up being almost 2.5 hours. When we returned, it was straight to lunch...we grew very fond of these fish goujons...mmmm.
Then is was relaxation time by the large pool.
